Once again, 100% of our Y1 pupils have passed the national phonics test, with 55% attaining full marks. This result is much higher than the national average. The use of Read, Write helps us to attain such high standards - our status as a Model School has been renewed and is ongoing.
We are delighted that for each of these three years, 100% of our Y1 pupils have passed the national Y1 Phonic Test, with many of them attaining full marks.
This highlights the standard of our phonic teaching through the Read, Write programme.
In November 2011, St Edward's was awarded Model School Status for the Read, Write Inc phonics and writing programme. This is in recognition of the outstanding work the school has done with this programme and the outstanding results and progress made by the pupils undertaking the scheme, which we use in Foundation, KS1 and as an intervention programme. This status means that we will be able to offer training and consultation to other scholls and will be held up as an example of good practice in this area.
